The New England area is fast becoming a “must ride” destination for mountain bikers of all disciplines. Armidale makes a great base for exploring what the region has to offer – a solid mix of cross country, fast single track and flowy Enduro style riding!
Much of this is thanks to the building efforts of the locally based club, New England Mountain Bikers (NEMTB), the authority on anything mountain biking in our area, including Walcha, Guyra, Uralla and Tamworth. They’re a group of enthusiastic riders, just trying to make the world a better place one bike trail at a time. They hold regular social events and races throughout the year for the community.
Social Event: Le Tour de Dale
To coincide with the start of the Tour de France, NEMTB will be hosting their very own (significantly shorter!) version – Le Tour de Dale. No yellow jersey, but you can look forward to a good lunch at the Bowling Club after. The tour will consist of 6 stages, all completed in one day. The inaugural Le Tour de Dale is a great way to get out and experience some of Armidale’s best trails all in one morning, and make some friends while you’re at it. Stages include laps at the Piney, Kooka Crest Track and SportUNE trails. Depending on your skill and fitness level you can choose between the Cruiser or the Shredder Categories.
